“Whatever you bring,, leave only your footprints” was a sign Rob saw at a beach that stayed with him as an excellent metaphor. We all make a mess sometimes, but the important thing is to clean up after yourself. “Faultlines” ponders the fragility of our lives while simultaneously exclaiming “I’m not losing sleep over what hasn’t happened yet”. Rob, a 3 time finalist at the NZ Music awards, has been described as “A songwriter’s songwriter”. Faultlines is 3’30” of pop rock joy.

Faultlines
(R. Joass)
There’s a fault line running through this town
Theory is one of these days the whole thing could come down
But in the meantime, with all respect
I’m not losing sleep over what hasn’t happened yet.
I’m prepared, ‘cause I’m not crazy
Ignore the scientists you’re either foolish or plain lazy
I do my best, the best I can
To leave nothing more than footprints in the sand
There’s a fault line running through my head
I confess some rainy days I don’t make it out of bed
Til the sunshine comes back around
I’ll be here under the sheets trying not to make a sound
While the world is churning outside
Daily news and pundit views just make me wanna hide
I do my best, the best I can
To leave nothing more than footprints in the sand.
There’s a fault line running through our hearts
Tread carefully, what you build can easily break apart
We do our best, the best we can
To leave nothing more than foot prints in the sand
